Old train tracks through the California redwoods

A pretty easy walk up from the car park, dogs and kids are always on the #trail. Its about 1.4 miles to the top. From where my picture was taken its another 169 steps to the actual lookout, you can just see the structure in the top left side of my shot. The vies of the Colorado Rockies front Range are just spectacular. This Fire lookout station has been in use since 1951 , but this location is over 100 years old.Bill... After 9 k hike (one way), you reach Mirador las Torres. This is eastern side of the famous W track. Takes about 6-7 h (at a good speed) back and forth factoring in lunch break. Some people prefer 4-5 day camp in the park. We stayed at a fantastic hotel and decided to take day trips (con: lots of driving around the park) but at the end of the long day you have a hot shower and a comfortable bad Discovered by Polina Quick at Parque Nacional Torres del Paine, Torres del Paine, Chile

Cape Flattery is one of the most beautiful spots at the edge of the world (or the northwestern-most edge of North America, anyway). The Cape Flattery Trail is an easy 1.5 mile hike on cedar planks through rich rainforest, culminating in a stunning view of the ocean and an array of lush outcroppings, floating kelp gardens and swirling, blue waters washing in and out of the sea caves below. Sea lions pepper the... Discovered by Intrepidor at Cape Flattery Trailhead, Clallam County, Washington

Discovered by Jillian Jones, "This hike has so many variations you never get bored. It's up and down, chilly, hot, humid, dry; trees, stone, rock. The waterfall cascades are gorgeous, as is the main waterfall seen here. Definitely worth coming here if you are in NorCal." at Alamere Falls, Marin County, California.

Discovered by John Flores, "Follow the Coast Trail to reach the Alamere Falls, a waterfall which jets down onto the beach. The hike from the parking lot and back takes 4 hours. Again, the Alamere Falls trail is unmaintained and the area is filled with Poison Oak, so I'd advise wearing long sleeves. To get down to the beach from this shorter trail, you have to climb down a pretty steep cliff with some loose rock, so be extremely careful." at Palomarin, Alamere Falls, Marin County, California

Discovered by Shelby Finch, "Nestled atop a neighborhood, this small but sweet park is a gem on a clear day! Worth the small hike up for nearly 360 views of SF and the Pacific Ocean. October is a great time to go as this area is mostly covered with fog all year long except for their Indian summer. (Sept-oct.)" at Grand View Park, San Francisco, California

Discovered by Bryan Board, "This is a great park for trails, camping and sight-seeing. It is also teeming with wildlife such as turkey and deer. There is a friendly community of staff also. Make sure to bring coats if you plan on taking fall photos or winter photos, it can get very windy. This lone tree was found atop a hill overlooking the fall scene, the tree looked long since dead but it's branches hanging over the hill was fascinating." at Mueller State Park, Park County, Colorado
