When you visit the Heijō Palace Site In Nara, you can’t help to be impressed with the sheer size of the site. If you are walking, it could take several hours to get around. While there yesterday, I visited the East Palace Garden (東院庭園).

The Hannyaji Temple in Nara or also called the Cosmos temple. Today, I went biking again and visited the Heijō Palace Site In Nara. Some sites I did not visit last week, hence my return. This is the Suzaku Gate (朱雀門) on the outer edge of the palace site. Of course it’s a reconstruction, the original gate and this one is and was 25 meters wide, 10 meters deep and 22 meters high.

While in Nara the other day, I visited the Heijō Palace Museum. Inside are many artifacts and reproduction of what life in the Palace was like. Here a scene of one of those rooms used by the Emperor and his entourage.
