OP: Elijah Wood was thoroughly deprived of an award he deserved when he didn't win an Oscar for his depiction of Frodo. Many label his portrayal as weak. To that I say: Frodo Baggins was never strong. He had not the brawn of Aragorn, nor the courage of Gimli. He was a simple, quiet, small man, and a power far greater than any else could bear overwhelmed him. Where in that journey did the audience expect to see strength, or wit, or joy? We saw Frodo as Tolkien meant him to be seen.

"I feel that as long as the Shire lies behind, safe and comfortable, I shall find wandering more bearable: I shall know that somewhere there is a firm foothold, even if my feet cannot stand there again.

Thank you! I think the point of the Frodo-and-Sam relationship is not that we are to look for our Sam, but that we are supposed to be Sam for others.

Elladan, Elrohir, and poor Elrond X3

The Lord of the Rings Elrond, Elrohir, Elladan FINALLY! Somebody who gives recognition to the brothers!

Continuing on my previous vein regarding Eomer; Eowyn, during the time of LotR, is only 20 years old. She's left in charge of running King Théoden's household in her teen years, has no one to help defend her when Wormtongue makes his lecherous advances, and then, when she feels as though she has nothing left of worth in her life, sneaks into the Rohirrim army to go out fighting. Talk about strength, and critics complain about the women Tolkien wrote. -Heather

Day Favorite Female Character: No brainer. She is my favorite female character ever. I admire her strength, and I absolutely love her and Faramir.

HA HA HA !!! This makes me love him more!

And the greatest wisdom. I love Pippin's words to Beregond about hope as the storm of battle is about to break over Minas Tirith. He learned this from Gandalf and teaches us. I love this from Cirth Ithil Inklings Facebook page.
