Elizabeth was proclaimed Queen at 11 am, Feb. 8, 1952. It happened at the balcony of St. James' Palace, the official seat of the monarchy, just next door to the Clarence House. A little segue for this matter; because St. James' Palace is the “official state palace”, hence every ambassador is accredited to the Court of St. James'.
