Benjamin, the last known thylacine (Thylacinus cynocephalus), Hobart Zoo, Australia (1933). Like the kangaroo, thylacine’s had pouches and inhabited the island of Tasmania and parts of mainland Australia.

I'm still amazed that at this animal. Benjamin, the last known thylacine (which means "dog-headed pouched one"), Hobart Zoo, 1933 . Now an extinct animal thanks to human hunting.
