Graphic shot here of the undulation of the Mosport race track, as the suspension on Bob Bondurant's McLaren M8E/D gets fully compressed. Bondurant teamed up with Lothar Motschenbacher in the early Can-Am races in 1971 as part of a two-car team, with Lothar running his traditional #11.
Hall in his 2G leads Hulme and McLaren in their M8As at Bridgehampton in 1968. I was there and thrilled to see Hall pass both McLarens and steadily pull away. Then, his Chevy suffered a fuel problem and the engine lost significant power. Both M8As failed and Hall was running 2nd behind Donahue's M6B. Near the end of the race, the fuel issue cleared up and Hall was taking big bites out of Donohue's lead, but ran out of time. Pete Lyons photo
Laguna Seca 200 miles, October 17, 1965. Heat two. Hap Sharp leads Charlie Hayes a McLaren Elva-Oldsmobile and Don Wester's Genie-Ford through the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca. Jim Hall had wrecked his car in Heat one. Sharp would finish 2nd to Walt Hansgen's Lola T70 in both heats. Duke Manor photo.
