Eastern Whip-poor-wills made famous in folk songs, poems, and literature for their endless chanting on summer nights. The're easy to hear but hard to see. Their brindled plumage blends perfectly with the leaf litter of the open forests where they breed and roost. At dawn and dusk, and on moonlit nights, they come out from perches to sweep up insects. These common birds are on the decline mostly because of habitat destruction, predation by feral cats and dogs, and poisoning by insecticides.
Corvid is the bird family that includes crows, ravens, magpies and jays. They are incredibly smart birds, and very sociable. Corvids have proven that they are capable of conscious problem-solving and making and using tools to achieve their goals.
Cool idea ~ rather than throw out old stale bread, hang it in a tree for the birds to enjoy!Hopefully it was home-made as bought bread of most kinds has precious little goodness in it. Still a great idea.
