Sgt Warren "Skip" Muck (1922–1945). One of the originals who trained in Camp Toccoa, Georgia, Muck fought in D-Day, Operation Market Garden, and the Battle of the Bulge. Muck and his friend Alex Penkala were killed from a direct hit in their foxhole from German artillery just outside the Belgian town of Foy. His Best Friend Donald Malarkey was deeply traumatized from his death.
'The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you're already dead. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function: without mercy, without compassion, without remorse. All war depends upon it.'
