tea bowl, hikidashi Chawan.    Hikidashi which means “to open drawer and remove” originates from the 16 th century Japanese Mino wood kilns. 鼠志野檜垣文茶碗 -- My Absolute All Time Favorite Bowl. I saw it in reality at the Mitsui Memorial Museum two years ago, at an exhibition of Momoyama tea bowls and other tea ceremony utensils and I am so glad to have found a photo of it online.

数寄者手帳 本阿弥光悦|freemlより 銘「雪片」個人蔵 光悦七種の一つ 典型的な筒茶碗の形をした、光悦にしてみては灰汁の少ない茶碗。手捻り感は全く出しておらず、高台も小さくするなど通常の筒茶碗とすれば異形です。口縁は不要な部分をバッサリ切り落とした思い切りの良さがあります。銘は雪片が胴のあたりに舞う様を意識したのでしょう。
