Words of wisdom from cellist Aldo Parisot - The Strad

Mischa Maisky (born January 10, 1948) is a Soviet Jew who repatriated to Israel. He has the distinction of being the only cellist in the world to have studied with both Mstislav Rostropovich and Gregor Piatigorsky, and also the only cellist to play more than 20 concerts and make three recording with the great Leonard Bernstein. He started when he was 8, quite late by Russian standards-the same year he quit smoking!! He plays a Montagnana cello.
