On Feb. 5, 1932, Barney Dreyfuss, president & owner of @Pittsburgh Pirates since 1900, died at age of 66 in NYC. In 1903, he brokered peace treaty that recognized two major leagues. Also instituted 1 set of rules, established agreements with minor leagues, set up cooperative scheduling, and recognized each league's rights to its own players. Agreement with Boston Pilgrims' (today's Boston Red Sox) owner Henry Killilea created modern World Series. In 1909, built Forbes Field.
