NGC 1316 is a "radio galaxy," meaning that its black hole, fed on a robust diet of intergalactic matter, generates intense heat and radio waves potent enough to be measured by astronomers some 60 million light years away.
NGC known as the Great Nebula in Carina, is home to massive stars and changing nebulas. The Keyhole Nebula (NGC the bright structure just above the image center, houses several of these massive stars and has itself changed its appearance.
