Rudolf Schmundt (13 August 1896 – 1 October 1944) was an officer in the German Army (Wehrmacht Heer) during World War II. He was injured during the 20 July 1944 assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler and died a few months later from his wounds.

Rudolf von Bünau was a distinguished infantry general who commanded several army corps during WW2.He was the recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. Both of his sons, Rudolf and Günther, were KIA in 1943. The general surrendered to US forces and was released in 1947. He died in 1962, aged 71.
