Pape Double Barrel Pistols – This cased pair of W.R. Pape gold and ivory percussion pistols is housed in the Robert E. Petersen Gallery at the NRA National Firearms Museum.  Mr. Pape was well known in the Victorian arms trade, first for becoming a gunmaker at age 27 without serving a formal apprenticeship and also for relying on other makers to create his components, based on Pape’s own patents.  But for fit and finish, Pape’s products were legendary.
