MIYAMAIRI in OLD JAPAN (1) 宮参り by Okinawa Soba, via Flickr. Miyamairi is a "Visit to the Shinto Shrine" where the new-born is blessed by the Priest. In this case, it's after the shrine ceremony where everyone is "Off to the Photographer" to capture the memories. It's the 1890s in old Japan.

Roman Catholics (and some others) have "Child Baptism", Japanese have "Miyamairi".
