This is the cover of the Newsweek Magazine from January 28, 1980. This was after President Jimmy Carter stated that the US would not be participating in the Olympics unless they were relocated. The Afghanistan Invasion was a hard situation in the last year of Carters presidency and he had to make the decision on whether to participate in the Olympics or not. Carter's decision would later influenced over 50 countries not to participate in the Olympic Games, along side the United States.
