Suminagashi marbled paper - This is a print on Yasutomo Sumi-e sketch paper (hosho paper) printed on the rough side of the paper.

Suminagashi is a Japanese traditional art of marbling which has over 1000 years history. Colors used were limited only black, blue and vermilion and there ware only one pattern like trailing smoke. There were no change of patterns within those 1000 years. Suminagashi paper were used as paper for calligraphy of Japanese poem, Suminagashi cloth were used for wrapper, handkerchief and "kimono" clothes. Suminagashi becoming called as "Classic Suminagashi" after Suimonga developed.
