The Kingsford Glider Plant, Kingsford, Michigan. Owned and operated by Ford, little has been said about this plant's support of the war effort. Originally a wooden parts plant Ford operated to create wood parts, it was converted to a wooden glider plant during the war. It employed 4,500 workers on a 24 hour shift, and produced 8 CG-4A gliders a day. It produced 4,190 gliders for the war effort, double the next two suppliers combined efforts.
