National Treasure of Japan, Seated Shaka Nyorai Statue, property of Muro-ji Temple in Nara 室生寺-釈迦如来坐(国宝). Murō-ji (室生寺) is a temple of Omoto school of Shingon Buddhism, located in the city of Uda, Nara, Japan. Murō-ji shows its typical aspect of Shingon Buddhism, with its buildings laid on the mountainside of Mount Murō (室生山 Murō-yama). Unlike many temples of the time, Murō-ji was opened to females. For that reason, the temple is also called Mount Kōya for women.

Śākyamuni (Seiryō-ji type), Wood, single block construction, Kamakura period 13th century, Nara National Museum. The statue of Śākyamuni which priest Chōnen brought back from China to Seiryō-ji Temple in Kyoto had been extensively admired, therefore many works were reproduced in the Kamakura period. The present statue constitutes one of the reproductions. The ink inscription was written on the pedestal, describing the date of fabrication as well as the name of prayer and sculptor.
