Ark Nova is a 500-seat concert hall that can be packed up and transported thanks to its inflatable structure—according to its creators, the Ark Nova is the world’s first mobile inflatable concert hall. It measures 98 feet by 118 feet and features a rounded, organic design by British sculptor Anish Kapoor and Japanese architect Arata Isozaki.

More of an art project than a light fixture, designer Anila Quayyum Agha found inspiration for this intricate installation, from the exclusion that women experience in Islam as well as in Pakistan.

A Set of Extraordinary Lights

"Intersections" by Anila Quayyum Agha is an ornately carved wood cube with an imbedded light source that projects SHADOWS onto gallery walls. The foot cube projects shadows that are 32 - 35 feet.

“the event of a thread” by Ann Hamilton.   The installation features two fields of suspended swings connected via ropes and pulleys to each other and to a massive white curtain. Each swing has its counterpart on the other side and it is the visitor’s momentum on the swing that activates a rolling undulation of the curtain. The movement of the curtain alone is mesmerizing. For those craving a bit of the ephemeral this holiday season, artist Ann Hamilton has hung 42 swings from the wrought-iron trusses at the Park Avenue Armory as part of a new installation the artist titles “the event of a thread.
