Lovers Snuggled Up, charcoal, by Käthe Kollwitz, c1909-1910. This is one of just a few so called 'Secreta', drawings of lovers which Kollwitz refused to be allowed to be publicly seen during her lifetime. Even now they are little known. in 1920 she said in her diary "Only the folder for Death II contained beautiful drawings. And, of course, the Secreta, but I'm not going to sell them or show them. I do not know what should happen to them after my death."
