I saw this painting in person when I was and the online copy does not do it justice. The colors are so much more vibrant in person. this will always remain my favorite Van Gogh painting.

In a letter to Theo he writes: "They are vast stretches of wheat under troubled skies, and I did not have to go out of my way very much in order to try to express sadness and extreme loneliness…. I'm fairly sure that these canvases will tell you what I cannot say in words, that is, how healthy and invigorating I find the countryside.” Auvers-sur-Oise: July, 1890. Amsterdam: Van Gogh Museum.
