The FRONT of a pendant (on a chain, thus forming a necklace with that) posted by Linda Pastorino on her page of "ethnic jewels". She describes the assembly as a "22K royal crabnecklace measuring 6 inches across". It is apparently from Sumatra, and in her caption for the image of the BACK she describes it as 17th c. Richter-Carpenter has a somewhat similar example on p. 255, described as Makassar and thus from Sulawesi; it is dated 19th c. The Bugis also made these pieces.
