The Tokyo Big Sight event building on Odaiba must be one of most strange-looking buildings in the world. Anyway, there are a lot of really cool events going on there. Among others, Design Festa. | Photo By: http://www.flickr.com/photos/drzuco/ | Design Festa: http://designfesta.com/en/

In 2008 I went with a group of friends on a day-trip to this awe-inspiring Amitabha Buddha statue located about 1 hour from central Tokyo. With its majestic 110 meters (plus an extra 10 meters for the lotus platform) of height, it currently is (to my knowledge) the world’s 3rd highest statue, just barely below its competitors. Compare this with the Statue of Liberty which is 93 meters high (the statue itself is just 46 meters), and you’ll probably get the idea of its enormous size.
