Paracas, Peru ~ the Candelabra of the Andes, a well-known prehistoric geoglyph. Pottery found nearby radio carbon dates it to 200 BCE. Cut two feet into the soil, with stones possibly from a later date placed around it, it's 595 ft tall, large enough to be seen 12 miles at sea. The reason for its creation is unknown, but most likely it represents the trident, a lightning rod of the mythical god Viracocha.
