Famous comic by mid 20thC French ligne claire artist Yves Chaland. I love the quite extreme yet successful variation in line weight. More pronounced than Al Hirschfeld but works well in combination with bold colour. Character abstraction is also quite high and is good reference for me possibly pushing that in my own work. Yves Chaland. French comics artist/writer. Part of a group of artists that created a retro style based on European comics from the 1940s. His works can be found in various publications including the mega-series, Metal Hurlant. Sadly, Yves died in his thirties in the early 1990s.
