An important pair of George II tapestry-upholstered giltwood armchairs in the manner of Thomas Chippendale<br>Circa 1755

Armchair made of carved walnut, painted white and grey and partly gilt with reproduction silk upholstery and modern castors created by Jean-Baptiste-Claude Sené [Paris, France], c. 1790. At the top of this chair is carved the monogram MA for Marie-Antoinette, Queen of France. It is unknown which of her palaces it comes from, although Sené supplied similar suites of chairs to her at the Château de Saint-Cloud, at Versailles and at the Tuileries
