Torafu Architects uses Japanese cedar columns in Aesop shop interior
This is an example of a traditional genkan--the entryway to a Japanese home. Shoes do not go past this point. My in-laws just have simple tile in their genkan. (I got complimented by friends on my korean-like policy of having a shoes-off policy. Wish I had an extra level like this.
Traditional Japanese design, the tatami room with dividers. Beautiful.

I definitely want an entry like this in my house and a rack for shoes, umbrellas and a little space for a motorcycle Definitivamente quiero una entrada así en mi casa, y un rack para los zapatos, paraguas, y un pequeño espacio para una moto.
