This year's Jugoya (August 15th of the lunar calendar) is October 1st. From ancient times, it has been customary in China and Japan to enjoy appreciating the beautiful moon in the clear autumn. In Japan, taro is often served Jugoya, so it is also known as "Imo Meigetsu". I found beautiful sweet potatos at the vegetable store, so I made maple sugar-flavored Imo Yōkan.
