5 Excellent Examples of Guerrilla Marketing
As I work in content marketing at my new job, I love being able to let my creative side loose. As I researched new ideas for my job, I came across something called guerrilla marketing. I knew…
The idea I had for this was to use a strong icon of ideal beauty and society's achievement of true beauty, plastic surgery lines to contradict each other. I wanted to convey the idea that "Why should beauty standards matter?"
Who Would Have Thought
The Thinker Statue is repurposed as the motif of Humanity who question why the world is falling apart but refuse to admit responsibilty or do anything about it. I choose this statue because he only contemplates and doesn’t act on it.
For this project I wanted to play off on the idea that the Sphinx's body was getting worn down and he didn't like the way he looked anymore. He was missing a nose and wanted it to be rebuilt. Therefore I went with a plastic surgery advertisement.
Racist Monuments Be Gone!
My concept is to cover all of the racist monuments of the south, some of which people claim is their heritage but represents their racist ancestors fighting to keep slaves amongst other things. If they get to keep their racist monuments, we get to cover them in hoods to call out their true history.
Pikes Place Piggy Bank
This is an iconic piggy bank statue located in Seattle's Pikes Place Market, where various crafts, foods, etc. are sold by small businesses. Once things start getting back to normal across the US, it will be important to keep reminding people of local and small businesses when they may have only been shopping at the big chains which remained open for the past few months.
Parthenon Gun Violence Statistics
Banners would be placed on the pillars of the Parthenon Monument in Tennessee. I thought the pillars demonstrated a lot of potential for the display of statistics. I think Tennessee generally being a conservative state is a good place to portray gun violence statistics.
Maya Lin's War Memorial Land Mine Installation
This ad functions through an installation with in Maya Lin's Vietnam War Memorial and is meant to raise awareness to the deaths from the past and present cause my Landmines. 3 Million individuals died in the war from landmines. Using the metaphor of mining equipment a scene alters visitors of the issue. Large sign "Caution (landing ahead, at least you can see these ones). Small Sign: "In the same way 60% of our loved ones died, the Vietnam war is still killing people. Watch for land mines"
Gay Christ the Redeemer
I came to the same conclusion as Hannah it seems! :transforming Rio De Jeneiro's Christ the Redeemer statue by adding a bit of pride. As someone who grew up in a christian household it is really inspiring to see christians accepting LGBTQ... people. It would be tough to get permission to install something like this but it would be very impactful.
