Rock Islands of Palau Photograph by Ian Shive, Tandem A boat speeds through the otherwise quiet waters of Palau's Rock Islands. Located in the western Pacific, this Micronesian archipelago is made up of more than 250 islands.
Palau is a small island country in Micronesia in the Pacific Ocean, between the seas west of the Philippines, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea to the south and the Federated States of Micronesia to the east.
Swim in Jellyfish Lake in Palau. The lake was originally part of the ocean, but it was closed off and, over time, the jellyfish have lost the power to sting. Of course, it was closed to the public the one time I was in Palau.
