Kayanoya茅乃舎 Tokyo, Japan 2014 shop 133 m2 Kayanoya originates in Kuhara Shoyu , Kyushu, a soy sauce manufacturer whose history dates back more than 120 years. The Kayanoya Shop in Nihonbashi is a reproduction of their traditional warehouse which we visited in Kyushu. Shoyu wooden barrels float to the top. Reinforcing with a carbon fiber rod (with a tensile strength 7 times that of iron) it becomes possible to have a single trunk with large branches while still diminishing movement during earthquakes.
