Winter Viking girl by VendelRus on DeviantArt
This is a pic of my ex wife Kerstin in her new outfit. Details are mostly Gotlandic. Her under garment is a line kirtle with white and red linen tablet ... Winter Viking girl
Handstitched 14th century hood made of a dense green/grey woolen cloth. No lining. The edge around the face finished with tablet-woven braid. The lower edge decorated with hand-made cut-outs and embroidery.
I made it inspired on Racaire's hood: www.flickr.com/photos/racaire/sets/72157618543972943/ I've already embroidered more on it but I haven't photo yet.
Wealthy women could wear fine clothes and jewellery and the men weapons. Most families however had to make do with simpler things. This display at West Stow museum attempts to reconstruct what Anglo-Saxon women would have worn. Picture taken 2006.
