Fire Ladder Jump with Numbers: We taped the numbers 1-10 between the rungs of a large wooden ladder. The children then took turns counting and jumping through the rungs of the ladder. We held hands on either side of the jumping child and gave a boost as necessary so that everyone would be successful regardless of jumping ability.
Fire Safety Activity: We had a fire fighter come talk to the children about fire safety. Then we had some fun with our pretend fire extinguishers ( see my post). The teacher drew a series of buildings taped the picture to the wall, then added pretend fire on the windows. The children squirted real water from our pretend fire extinguishers. One way we may change this is, draw buildings on plastic table cloths and draw fire with washable markers so it disappears.
