Susuharai, Annual New Year's Cleaning Shinto Ritual by Miko Shrine Maidens (Kagoshima, Japan)
Miko is waiting for the wedding ceremony some minutes later. She hasn't put hear head decoration yet but the golden pots and other items are ready. Miko is a Japanese term that anciently meant a "female shaman, spirit medium" who conveyed oracles from kami ("spirits; gods"), and presently means a "shrine maiden; virgin consecrated to a deity" who serves at Shinto shrines.
