Venetian - A concert (1525)
As the woman in the centre plays a lute, her companions sing; the figure on the right holds the score. In the past this painting has been attributed to the School of Palma Vecchio, Lotto, Pordenone and Bonifazio. The treatment of the subject is close to Palma Vecchio's 'Three Sisters' (Dresden, Gemäldegalerie), but the style of the work suggests that it may be by an artist from Friuli on stylistic grounds. The dress indicates a date in the mid-1520s. London, National Gallery high resolution…

Agnolo Bronzino | Art in Detail
Agnolo Bronzino (1503-1563) was a stand-out artist of the second-wave of Italian Mannerism in the middle of the 16th century. He lived his entire life in Florence and modeled his painting style so closely to that of his mentor, Jacopo Pontormo. For biographical notes and earlier works by Bronzino see part 1.
