Woodland forest

The ancient forest of Puzzlewood is said to have inspired Tolkien's Middle Earth.I was absolutely blown away by how beautiful this place is. Puzzlewood is an ancient woodland which was once the site of iron ore extraction. There are naturally-occurring underground caves in the landscape, which became exposed over time.

Beech trees fagus sylvatica are one of the finest trees to find in an Irish woodland. This non-native species was introduced at some point in history, many centuries ago at least, and has become so widespread that it would appear to be a native Irish tree.
