Long overdue update to a resource!

I have had this on my To-Do list for ages.I finally got a chance to work on updating Polygon Bingo, which was one of my first resources I listed on Teachers pay Teachers. If you already own it (or my geometery units for K&1 or 2&3), you'll want to download for the update. I have included black and white cards, follow up activities (with names of polygons), and spinners! Before, you had to roll dice to get the number and color of the polygon to cover. That worked well for us, but my kids…

Studying Polygons

We have been working on geometry this week and have been using pattern blocks to create some very cool polygons. I loved having them share these using "Team Talk" (read more HERE) and we worked on sharing our shapes on the overhead projector and the different ways you could create the same polygon using different blocks. While our curriculum only calls for knowing 3,4,5,6,8, and 10-sided shapes, it was fun introducing heptagons and nonagons, so I created this fun freebie to look at all of…

What Does The Shape Say? & Quadrilateral Quotes!

We’ve been working with shapes in math and focusing on writing dialogue with the correct use of quotation marks. Have you ever noticed that when you start teaching about these that suddenly, “every” “single” “word” “gets” “them”? Ha! As we practiced identifying shapes and their attributes, here’s how we tied in our writing and practiced the correct use of quotation […]

Poly-Long Riddles We have been discussing polygons as a brief review since we have been focusing on the perimeter and area of polygons. While talking about it I noticed some of my students struggle a bit with what exactly parallelograms are. For instance they didn't seem to understand that a rectangle is also a parallelogram. So that's when I quickly whipped up this practice sheet for them (and now for you for free!). I have of course also provided the answer key too! In this sheet students just Polygon Activities, Area Of Polygons, Summer School Math, Perimeter And Area, Owl Teacher, Geometry Lessons, Regular Polygon, Geometry Worksheets, Math Riddles
