Grandpa's Junk Drawer- Found Object Assemblage Art Shadowbox

This is a found object assemblage done within an old wooden box lid. I added a handle to make it look like a drawer. The piece is approximately 12.5" X 8" including the handle and is ready to hang. Inside the box are a variety of vintage items that I imagined would be in a Grandpa's junk drawer. The items are: part of a wooden measuring stick, an old wooden whistle, a small tin of erasers, an old La Rose Tool tin, a wooden nickel, a faucet handle, a typewriter ribbon tin, a "A" poker chip, an old pen, a metal stencil letter "X", a drafting compass, an old die, some small bolts, an old electrical plug, small watch parts, an old padlock, an old lighter, a metal clip, an old fishing weight, a watch part vial and a bottle of Bee Pipe Sweetener! This is all displayed in an orderly fashion to create fun junk drawer art! This would be a great gift for the handyman guy who loves their workshop and likes to putter around the garage. This would also be a unique Fathers Day gift!

A Bird Watchers Box - A Found Object Assemblage Art Box

This is a found object assemblage done within an old, wood sewing machine drawer. The drawer is 4.5" X 13.5" and is ready to hang or can sit on a shelf or mantle. I found an old ladle that had an attachment screw at the top of the ladle handle. I added some bolts and attached it to the top of the drawer. Inside the ladle, I made a small nest out of Spanish moss and added a real quail egg shell. I mounted a small wooden frame and added a copy of a vintage warbler bird illustration. Inside the drawer I added an old bottle and put a couple of real mourning dove feathers and a vintage pine cone ornament. I also added a small branch with real mini pinecones and a couple of real acorns. This bird lovers box has a beautiful rustic feel and would be a great gift for any bird watcher or anyone who loves nature.

Vintage with Laces

I had been interested in making a cute monster doll for a while but there was no small child in our family or among our circle of friends to give it to. I certainly could have made one just for the fun of it but there had been other projects with higher priorities on my list. Then, three weeks ago, unexpectedly a little girl came into our lives when hubby took a bag of trash to the communal garbage container. He couldn't believe his eyes when he looked into the garbage can. Someone had dumped a dog puppy. The little girl was hardly moving and didn't make a sound. Hubby brought her home, we fed her and gave her a bath. I thought she could need a little companion and sewed a friendly monster doll for her. I upcycled a cozy old sweater for the body and head, two socks for arms and legs and some fabric scraps for ears and details. The puppy was 4 or 5 weeks old at the time hubby found her and had probably spent the whole night in the garbage container. She recovered fast from the shock of being left alone and is doing very well now. We named her Molly. Isn't she a cutie? The kitties don't think so though, lol. Last Saturday we took Molly to the beach and it didn't take long until she found a washed up branch and a ball to play with. She also played with her monster doll. It was a bit exhausting for the doll but she survived I picked up some small pieces of driftwood, a few snail shells and a walnut to create jewelry or to use for assemblages. Molly had a fun morning and we enjoyed the beach walk as well. The weather was just ideal.
