"First of all, you can never be fully understood if you never allow yourself to be fully misunderstood. Secondly, you cannot simplify your life so that it's accessible to the most foolish person you will ever meet. Some things will not be understood, some things will be misunderstood. That's the nature of existence." -- Daniel Kitson, "The Stand" (2005)

It's Always Right Now, Until It's Later. Daniel Kitson at St. Ann's Warehouse. 2012. Storytelling that, in another's hands, might dissolve into cheap sentimentality is rendered vibrantly, full of surprise and danger. Brilliant.

"And his right mitten, even more tightly, is holding a balloon. And he's holding the balloon in that way that only children really hold balloons: in that way that says, 'I've got it. I've got the balloon.'" Stories For the Wobbly Hearted by Daniel Kitson

comic poetry of Daniel Kitson, who never makes a film grrr! This is a tiny fragment from stories of the wobby hearted. The most amazing, moving, funny thing I ever watched was Church Road. Fleeting, beautiful and unrecorded.

Daniel Kitson - I first saw him doing C90 at Sydney Opera house in 1997. Breathtakingly beautiful. I've seen him once since (It's always now until it's later) and he was equally brilliant. Heard lots of his standup too. The comedian's comedian (apparently). Deservedly so.

Daniel Kitson - the greatest live wordsmith I have ever witnessed. Can combine humour and sensitivity in his standup & monologue plays like no other. My favourite comedian.
