Obidome are small brooches worn threaded onto the obijime (a decorated sash in order to tie an obi firmly), not really necessary, but making a charming decoration on the front of the obi. Common designs are flowers, small objects, or animals, which are made of wood, ceramic, mother of pearl, resin, or other precious metals. Obidome first appeared in the early 19th century, more of a form of obi clasp, rather than an accessory as we usually use today
