Kimina, a geiko of Miyagawa-cho, looks out through the noren (curtain) of a restaurant across the street from her okiya. This was the first portrait I took for my book Geisha & Maiko of Kyoto: Beauty, Art, & Dance.

Geiko Makiko, already a legendary performer of Gion Kobu wearing a very lush purple Hiki with a delicate Chrisanthemum pattern. This Hiki is associated with Makino as it is one of her most popular Kimonos for autumn.
