Tomorrow is the Solemnity of the Nativry of St. John the Baptist 🎊😊 To celebrate, we are making a honey cake from Cooking with the Saints! St. John the Baptist elicits a popular image of a scraggly, bearded man carrying a staff and dressed in a camel's hair garment. He lived in the wilderness, subsisted on locusts and honey, and traveled from village to village as a prophet. He warned people to repent of their sins, and he baptized them! 🛍️ Book - 1006476 Sacred Heart Plaque - 2060473

Today is the feast day of St. Agnes!

St. Agnes was born to a noble Roman family. Instead of marrying, St. Agnes committed herself to a life of consecrated virginity as a spouse of Christ.

The story of St. Agnes serves as a wonderful role model for us today, especially in our culture that seems to assault purity. She is often depicted holding a lamb, which is the perfect reason to create these lamb cupcakes!

Here's what you need:

🤍Cupcakes
 • 🤍White & black frosting
 • 🤍Mini marshmallows
 • 🤍Pink sprinkles

🤍Small pink candies

St. Agnes, pray for us!

Today is the Passion of St. John the Baptist. He was a cousin of Jesus, and his mission was to preach repentance to Israel in preparation for the coming of the Messiah.

When John rebuked King Herod for his unlawful union with Herodias, his brother's wife, Herod had John imprisoned. On his birthday, Herod celebrated with a great feast as Salome, the daughter of Herodias, danced before his guests.

Herod, pleased with Salome's performance, promised to give her whatever she asked for, even up to half his kingdom. On the advice of her wicked mother, Salome asked for the head of John the Baptist on a platter. Herod regretfully ordered the execution.

St. John the Baptist is the last and greatest of the Old Testament prophets, highly venerated by the Church.

The Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a popular prayer. It is the heart of Jesus that was pierced on the cross for our redemption; not just for mankind in general, but for each person in particular. This popular litany honors and praises that Sacred Heart which suffered and died out of inexpressible love for each one of us.
St. Angela Merici, born in Desenzano, Italy in 1474, established the Ursuline Order to teach young girls the Catholic Christian faith. This little known but powerful friend of God truly had the heart of a teacher, and she has many lessons for us today.

The brown scapular is one of the most beloved Marian devotionals in the history of the Church. But what is it? Where did it come from?

Any Catholic can wear the scapular—even children! It is important to remember that the scapular is not a "magic amulet." We cannot wear it, live a sinful life, and expect to be saved from hell.

The scapular is not necessary for salvation. But it is a powerful sacramental, and a truly amazing gift from the Blessed Mother. When worn in faith, the scapular is a devotion which leads us to holiness and protects us from eternal damnation.

If you haven't embraced the scapular and its promises, you should!

The story of St. Mary Magdalene reminds us all of a fundamental truth: a disciple of Christ is one who, in the experience of human weakness, has had the humility to ask for help, has been healed by him, and has set out following closely after him, becoming a witness of the power of his merciful love that is stronger than sin and death.⠀ ⠀ // Pope Benedict XVI⠀ ⠀ St. Mary Magdalene, pray for us!⠀ ⠀ Tap the photo to buy this beautiful image by Jason Jenicke.

Today is the feast day of St. John Vianney!

He was baptized on the day of his birth. When he was four years old the French Revolution erupted, and priests were forced into hiding. Every day they risked their lives to give the sacraments, and John looked up to them as heroes. His First Holy Communion and Confirmation were made in secrecy.

After the Church in France was reestablished, John studied for the priesthood. He had difficulty in his studies due to his lack of formal education during the turmoil of the revolution, but his great desire carried him through. After his ordination, he became a parish priest assigned to the small country town of Ars.

There he ministered and performed great penances for the people and received many graces for their conversion. He had the gifts of mi
