Happy Birthday Dr Seuss!!

Over the past week I have been knee deep in Seussville. Buggie's school is having a family reading night tonight for read across America. Which today happens to be Dr. Seuss's birthday and the kindergarten classes each picked a Dr. Seuss book to decorate with. So once I heard we got "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" I met up with my homie Brie, we have been friends since our babes were 3 months old and the kids have been in class together ever since they started school at 3, so working on a…

Ready for Parent/Teacher Conferences!

I decided to share a little glimpse into how I put together my Parent/Teacher conferences each year! First, I start out by sending home this parent/teacher conference request form. When the parents return this form requesting a parent/teacher conference I schedule their conference and send home an appointment notice letting them know the day and time their conference is set for. I also send home this parent questions and concerns form. This really helps me make sure I am not caught off guard…

Apps For Classroom Management

Hi everyone, I'm here to share some fabulous apps that I have been using in my classroom. I shared these on my Instagram and my Facebook page a few weeks ago and I was blown away with all the positive reactions from everyone! First up is the Classroom Timer app. I do use a Time Timer in my classroom already but this app is great for displaying on the Smart board or taking to a center activity, where the classroom timer might not be as visible. My students really love using the timer because…

Classroom Compulsion's Clip Chart Freebie

Hello, all! This is my first time posting here and I'm very excited to be able to share a freebie with you all today. My name's Rebecca and I'm going into my third year of teaching. I've spent two years in a self-contained sixth grade and will be teaching third grade this year. I have my own teaching blog called Classroom Compulsion. I'm new to the blogging world and would really love it if you stopped by to say hello sometime! I've been contemplating doing a camping theme in my classroom…

This is an EXCELLENT IDEA: a POSITIVE Behavior Chart. I used a positive behavior chart last year and I only had to move students down MAYBE twice all year. I found I could change behavior by moving others up. It was amazing. Classroom Makeover...

Well kind of...maybe I should say classroom update!?!? I needed to re-arrange to create some wall space in order to implement Cafe this year and let the owls join in the fun, and I'm all glitter and giggles with the results! The owl tree turned out just fab! I was also in need of a new guided reading table so Misty and I headed to Ikea. My previous table just took up too much room. I'm not sure how much I'll like the new table, but it looks sooo much better. Check out some of my new…

Classroom Reveal 2013!

It's official! I have started my third year of teaching, in my third grade level change (this year I am teaching second grade) and I survived my first week with the kiddos! School started for me on Monday, but thanks to a little thing called Labor Day, I have a four-day weekend to break me into work slowly. I am super excited to show you all around my new classroom! If you read my post last year about my classroom reveal, you will see a lot of similarities, but I think this is my BEST…

Fix It Tickets for Classroom Management and Positive Behavior

Before I delve into the details of “Fix-It Tickets,” let me preface them by saying that the most effective classroom management strategy is forming positive relationships with students. Kids naturally behave better when they feel a personal connection to their teacher, and quite simply, when they feel that their teacher likes them. That being said, […]
