Yabusame are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, plus the katana, naginata, and wakizashi. They are also proficient with light and medium armor, but not with shields or heavy armor.

The Kamakura Yabusame festival is probably Japan’s most impressive demonstration of horse back Japanese archery. It takes place every year mid April in the Kamakura Hachiman shrine. Yabusame (流鏑馬) is a type of mounted archery in traditional Japanese archery. An archer on a running horse shoots three special "turnip-headed" arrows successively at three wooden targets. This style of archery has its origins at the beginning of the Kamakura period (1185-1333).
