We love a good, simple IKEA hack. In the hands of Sarah of Smitten Studio, this plain pine Tarva got a coat of paint and a little bling. Check out the results:Fresh white, gold legs, and brass knobs add much needed storage and a dash of style in the bedroom of Sarah’s cabin, after the removal of a bunk bed/closet system. More often than not, all you need to take a beat-up bureau, discarded desk, or tired trunk from shabby to chic is a few dollars and a dream. We partnered with Liberty Hardware to give three thrift store finds a DIY furniture facelift using their new collection of fun and modern furniture hardware and accessory pieces sold exclusively at The Home Depot.

cord controlJanuary Cure Our goal was to find a piece of furniture to add storage under our TV to house our entertainment electronics, cords and other odds and ends that didn’t yet have a home. Unfortunately we didn’t take pictures of the process, but I can certainly describe what we did. We started by removing the original handles and patching the holes left behind on the six bottom drawers with slices of dowels and a bit of wood glue.

Nicole picked up this dresser as part of a three-piece set. The other two pieces, matching nightstands, got their own makeovers but Nicole wanted to do something a little different with this dresser. Check out the results after the jump…As Nicole reports on her blog, Scrap Me Baby, the dresser was in great condition structurally so it really just came down to a matter of painting it. Giving this dresser the black-and-white treatment makes great use of the piece’s details!
