Strength Training for Runners

Runners strength train (ST) for injury prevention, endurance, speed improvements, and weight maintenance. Coaches advocate running 70%-80% of weekly miles as “slow” miles. To accelerate fat burning and improve speed, I strength train BEFORE running "slow" miles (cardio last). To improve strength and endurance, I do H.I.I.T. AFTER running "slow" miles (weights last). My training is sequential (weights before or after cardio), hybrid (weights/cardio intermixed), or performed on alternate days.
