Kumamon (くまモン) is a mascot created by the government of Kumamoto Prefecture in Japan to, in 2010 draw tourists to the region after the Kyushu Shinkansen -train- line opened.

9-22-2014 Kumamon is popular around Japan and aspires to world domination. He is the kind of bear you can share some Honey and Beer with at the local forest tavern. He is from Kyushu, and was created to draw tourists to Kumamoto Prefecture with the opening of the Kyushu Shinkansen in 2011. Did you know that Kumamon is a public employee working for the Kyushu prefecture government? This explains why he has so much time to goof off in an out of Japan.
